H M S Tantivy

HMS Tantivy was a British submarine of the third group of the T class. It was built as P319 by Vickers Armstrong, Barrow, and John Brown & Company, Clydebank, and launched on 6 April 1943. So far it has been the only ship of the Royal Navy to bear the name Tantivy. It survived the war and continued in service with the Navy, finally being sunk as an anti-submarine target in the Moray Firth in 1951. Where it layed forgotten about until a group of divers were asked by locals to help identify a wreck thought to be a large barge. George Brown was in this group, he and his friends later bought the vessel to make sure divers in generations to come could enjoy it. It was a massive pleasure to be briefed pre dive by George, and an honour to dive it with him.
