Squeezing through "Buddha's Nostril" at Nara Temple

Inside Todaiji (Great Eastern Temple) in Nara is a 15m/45 tall copper Buddha statue. To appreciate the size of this statue, a hole, the size of Buddha's nostril has been cut in the base of a humungous wooden pillar holding up the temple ceiling.

With stood around and watched many small children squeezing, crawling and walking through this hole before I perhaps foolishly thought, "I wonder if I can get through this hole?"

It is said that those who can squeeze through this opening will be granted enlightenment in the next life. Will I be enlightened or not? Watch...
