Trump doubles down on $10 billion lawsuit as BBC tries to escape court battle
US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his massive $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC despite the network attempting to have the case thrown out.
The lawsuit accuses the broadcaster of defaming Trump through a documentary that edited his January 6 speech in a misleading way.
Trump has argued the program falsely suggested he encouraged violence during the Capitol riot.
The BBC has now filed a motion asking a US court to dismiss the case, claiming the documentary did not air in the United States and therefore falls outside the court’s jurisdiction.
The network has also argued that Trump cannot prove reputational damage after winning the 2024 presidential election.
