Although the Nigerian economy was able to exit the pandemic-induced recession by the fourth quarter of 2020, recent data has shown that rising inflation, high unemployment, and a lack of economy opportunities have pushed more Nigerians into extreme poverty and contributed significantly to the crime wave in the county.

In order to address the critical economic situation, the government can no longer shy away from implementing urgent reforms that will improve output and investment inflows through which more jobs can be created. However, more often than not, most reform measures require the political will and determination of government to see them through.
