AH-56 Cheyenne

The Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne manufactured by Lockheed is an American attack helicopter. Instead of a single tail-rotor, the Cheyenne had two, one to counteract the torque of the main blades, and the other one to provide thrust. The AH-56 Cheyenne featured low-mounted wings, a tail-mounted thrusting propeller, and a single General Electric T64 turboshaft engine. The AH-56 was cancelled on the 19th of May in 1969 because of a technical problem that affected the performance of the AH-56 Cheyenne and caused a fatal crash. The maiden flight of the AH-56 Cheyenne took place on the 21st of September 1967. Primary user was the United States Army. There were approx. 10 AH-56 Cheyenne produced.
