Cowboy snow skis in downtown Austin Texas

Austin Texas snow day on February 15, 2021

Austin got 6+ inches of snow late Sunday night on February 14, 2021. We were driving in the snowy and icy road conditions down South Congress Avenue into the Media Pouch HQ when we spotted a guy decked out in snow gear with skis on standing at the top of SoCo Ave next to Home Slice Pizza.
We pulled over to ask what he was doing and he responded that he had been skiing down SoCo since 630 AM. We immediately drove to the office to grab the drone and our other video gear so we could come back and film this super unique, EPIC, and once-in-a-lifetime event in Austin. It never snows this much down here and we knew that this opportunity to film someone snow skiing in the middle of downtown Austin would probably never happen again.

After 15 minutes, another gentleman joined in on the skiing action. Not too long after another guy with a cowboy hat on rolled up with his skis on ready to join in on the action.
As people were driving and walking on South Congress they started to realize what was going on and before long we had a crowd of people watching the guys ski and the drone flying overhead.

This video has since gone viral across several social platforms with over 75K views as well as being aired on live TV by 5 news stations from San Antonio to Austin to all the way up in Indianapolis.
