Ürdün devletinin güneyinde , Akabe şehrinin 60 km doğusunda bulunan, kumtaşı ve granit kayalardan oluşmuş 720 km² lik ilginç bir çöl vadisinde, Deniz seviyesinden yaklaşık 1600 metre yüksekte yer alan Ürdün devletinin en büyük turizm kaynaklarından birini oluşturan tarihi bir yeridir.

Burası Wadi Rum çölü veya başka bir adıyla Ay vadisidir. Ürdün'ün en büyük vadisi olmasının yanı sıra görüntüsüyle de dikkati çeken bir arazi yapısına sahiptir. Mars yüzeyine olan benzerliğiyle ünlü Rum Vadisi, çöl safarisine çıkanların gözde bir yeridir.

Nefes kesici görünümü, Mars yüzeyini andıran görüntüsü, heybeti, gizemi ile gün ışığına göre, değişen kayalarının renkleri ve efsanesiyle dünyanın en gizemli bir bölgesidir. Bilim kurgu filmlerinin en çok çekildiği büyük bir film seti alanıdır. Birçok bilim kurgu filmi, son dönemlerde burada çekilmiştir.

Ürdün'ün bu ilginç vadisinin saklı bir kanyonunda, milattan önce Hz. Nuh’un torunlarının soyunda gelen Nebatiler tarafından kurulmuş antik bir kent vardır. Bu antik kent, Arap çöllerinin kayıp bir mücevheri, dünyanın da en gizemli kentlerinden biridir.
