Floyd Cramer Forever with Grandson Jason Coleman
It only takes a few notes of a song like “Last Date” to recognize instantly whose fingers are at the piano keys. FLOYD CRAMER’s unique piano style was truly one of a kind, leading to a Hall of Fame career, both as a solo performer and as the piano player on the hits of countless country, pop, and rock legends, including Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers, and Elvis Presley.
Though Floyd passed away in 1997, his piano lives on forever – through the memories of his listeners and fans, and through the music of his grandson, pianist JASON COLEMAN.
In this concert, Jason brings new life to his grandfather’s timeless “slip note” piano style, playing all of the hits for which Floyd was famous, telling the stories behind these historic songs and recording sessions, and sharing his own personal memories of growing up with his “Grandad.” A Nashville native, Jason made his Grand Ole Opry debut at age 17 and since then has spent his career in the studio and on stage, producing a collection of his own piano albums and touring the country in concerts that honor his grandfather’s enduring legacy.
