➡️ "‘Here Comes Treble’" (from The Flatliners’ "Cavalcade" album) is the perfect example of a bass player doing everything right — and doing a LOT. This track sounds nothing like the other song I heard from this album, and that’s exactly what fascinates me. Between the jazz-tinged chords, tight stop-and-start rhythms, and a vocal performance that swings from gritty to soulful, the bass somehow stays busy without ever stepping on the song’s toes. It’s fluid, it’s melodic, and it’s the kind of playing that makes you rethink what “supportive” bass work really means.
