7812 vs switching regulator: stable 12V output in wind turbine systems #7812 #WindTurbine #diy

As the input voltage increases, proper voltage regulation becomes essential in wind turbine systems.
In the first experiment, a DC power supply is used together with a 7812 linear voltage regulator. Despite changes in the input voltage, the output remains clamped at a stable 12 V, demonstrating the basic principle of linear regulation.
In the second experiment, the wind turbine is rotated and a switching voltage regulator is applied. This regulator also maintains a constant 12 V output, but with higher efficiency and lower power dissipation compared to the linear regulator.
This demonstration highlights the difference between linear and switching voltage regulators and explains why regulation is critical in renewable energy and wind turbine applications, especially when the input voltage varies with rotational speed.
