Iran Israel War: Indian Ship Attacked By Iran After Trump Extends Ceasefire, Is War Running On Loop?
Iran Israel War: Indian Ship Attacked By Iran After Trump Extends Ceasefire, Is War Running On Loop?
The US-Iran war enters a new phase as President Donald Trump extends the ceasefire indefinitely — but tensions continue to rise on the ground.
Despite the ceasefire announcement, the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz remains active, Iranian vessels continue to be intercepted, and Tehran has accused Washington of repeated violations. Fresh incidents involving ship seizures in Hormuz, including vessels linked to international routes, have added to concerns over global energy security and trade disruption.
With talks in Islamabad facing uncertainty and diplomatic trust at a low, both sides appear to be maintaining pressure while preparing for possible escalation. Iran has signalled resistance to negotiating under force, while the US continues economic and military pressure through sanctions and maritime control.
According to multiple reports, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard targeted three ships passing through the critical waterway, firing on them and seizing at least two. One of the vessels, identified as the Liberia-flagged Epaminondas, had declared Gujarat as its destination and was en route to India when it came under attack.
The incident comes at a time when a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran is already under strain. Despite a pause in large-scale military action, the US naval blockade on Iranian ports continues, and Iran has responded by tightening control over maritime movement in the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes.
Iran has claimed that the ships were violating maritime regulations or operating without proper identification, while Western officials and maritime agencies have flagged rising risks to global shipping and energy supply chains.
For India, the development is significant. The Strait of Hormuz handles a major portion of India’s oil imports, and any disruption directly impacts energy security, trade routes, and shipping safety. Previous incidents in the region have already seen Indian-linked vessels fired upon or forced to reroute, prompting increased naval monitoring and advisories.
