The AI agent security checklist for IT

Practical actions for securing AI agents:

1. Treat every agent as untrusted code - default-deny on files and network.
2. Audit the permissions, not the prompts. You can't prompt-engineer your way out of the lethal trifecta - the defence lives in the infrastructure.
3. Human-in-the-loop for any external action. Approvals can go to Slack or WhatsApp so it's not a bottleneck.
4. Pick frameworks that assume the agent will misbehave. NIST, OWASP, AWS, ASD all converge here.

If your vendor sells autonomy with no infrastructure answer, that's a flag.
