GTS vs GT: Is the New Titleist GTS2 Actually Better Than GT2? 👀⛳

I put my newly fitted Titleist GTS2 head-to-head against last year’s GT2 to find out whether the new model is genuinely better — or just a small evolution.

But this wasn’t a basic “hit two drivers and compare numbers” test.

My GTS2 was fully custom fit at Woburn with different heads, shafts, lofts, and weight settings to help solve a very specific miss pattern. So the real question became:

• Is GTS2 actually faster?
• Is it more stable than GT2?
• How much difference does the new dual-weight system make?
• And if you already game a GT2, is it really worth upgrading?

My fitted setup:
🏌️ Titleist GTS2 8°
🏌️ C2 setting
🏌️ Graphite Design DI-6X
🏌️ 7g front / 9g rear weighting

The heavier rear setup was designed to increase stability and tighten dispersion — especially for my tendency to get stuck inside and flip the face through impact.

The biggest difference between GT2 and GTS2?
The new dual-weight system.

GT2 only gives you a single rear weight. GTS2 adds front and back weighting, giving fitters far more freedom to tune spin, launch, forgiveness, speed, and shot shape.

For me, that meant prioritising:
✅ More fairways
✅ More stability
✅ A predictable one-way miss
❌ Not just chasing maximum distance

In testing, the differences were interesting:

📈 GTS2 advantages:
• Slightly faster clubhead speed
• Slightly faster ball speed
• Slightly longer total distance
• Better stability on toe strikes
• More muted, solid feel

📈 GT2 advantages:
• Slightly longer carry distance
• Longest drive of the session

📊 Overall?
Launch, spin, efficiency, and dispersion were actually VERY similar.

So no… GTS2 didn’t suddenly blow GT2 away by 10 yards.

But the bigger story is fitting.

Coming from my older TSR2 into GTS2, the gains were much larger:
🔥 10–15 extra yards
🔥 Much tighter dispersion
🔥 More playable misses

That’s where the new platform really starts to shine.

If you already have a properly fitted GT2, you may not need to rush out and upgrade immediately.

But if:
• You’re using an older driver
• You’ve never been properly fit
• You struggle with consistency off the tee
• You want more adjustability and tuning potential

…then GTS2 could be a massive improvement.

The real takeaway:
The best driver is not automatically the newest one — it’s the one properly fit to YOUR swing.

Get fit. Let the numbers decide.
