-------------------------
What do you know about southern Sephardic Jewish history? And what does the island of Rhodes have to do with the growth of Jewish life in Georgia and Alabama? Join the ISJL Virtual Vacation as we dive into the history of two southern Sephardic communities: Agudath Israel Etz Ahayem in Montgomery, Alabama, and Or VeShalom in Atlanta, Georgia. We investigate the immigration experience, the relationship between Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews in the South, Sephardic food and communal traditions, and what these two communities look like today. This episode features the leaders of these historic Sephardic congregations, stories from members of both communities, and selections from the ISJL's oral history collection.
