Russia’s Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Troops were founded more than a century ago. This special unit fights invisible enemies, from radiation to viruses. The NBC troops were deployed to Chernobyl during the nuclear reactor accident and to Europe when the Covid pandemic struck. RT host Anna Knishenko visited Russia’s only Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Military Academy to find out what it takes to get into this scary branch of the armed forces. The NBC troops use elaborate equipment to detect chemical agents and biological weapons.
