Expo SDK 54 beta is live! Faster, better, free-er!

Expo SDK 54 beta is live 🎉 and it’s one of the biggest updates yet! The beta will run for about two weeks—giving you time to test your apps, catch regressions, and share feedback before the stable release.

Here’s what’s new in SDK 54:

🚀 Ships with React Native 0.81 and React 19.1
⚡ Precompiled React Native on iOS → up to 10x faster clean builds
🎨 Support for liquid glass design in iOS 26
🧩 New tabs, icons, and Expo UI components
🤖 Android now targets API 36 with H2H and predictive back gesture enabled by default
🔄 Expo Updates: new API for request headers + download progress tracking
🔗 Expo auto-linking improved with bun, pnpm, and yarn support
⏳ Last release with legacy architecture (SDK 55 moves fully to the new architecture)
