RBA Governor ‘will not hesitate’ to raise interest rates if necessary
RBA Governor Michele Bullock “will not hesitate” to lift interest rates if necessary, according to The Australian’s Associate Editor Graham Lloyd.
“If you look at the inflation figures, there’s probably an argument for that to happen,” he told Sky News Australia.
Mr Lloyd claims the governor has a “big decision” to make on whether to raise interest rates as she is still required to maintain the RBA’s independence.
“Unhelpfully, the Treasurer has really given her some advice, saying she should leave rates on hold.
“It’s likely that she will lift rates, it’s possible though, that it won’t be the full 25 basis points – just to maintain equilibrium across the field.”
