Mother Hippo guides her new born back to the safety of the St Lucia estuary while displaying he teeth to show her anxiety.
Super special sighting of rare Hippo behaviour which is usually done in the safety of the night, but at St Lucia estuary these amazing creatures have become accustomed to human being near to them.

2. Hippos do not have sweat glands but rather have glands which secrete a pinkish coloured mucus onto their skin which keeps it moisturised. Spending all day in the water this mucus acts as a natural sunscreen.
3. Hippo mate in water and the female is pregnant for a mere 8 months.
4. Hippo kill more people in Africa every day than any other animal excepting the mosquito.
5. Hippo have been hunted over the years for their Ivory teeth, which famous people like Sr Benjamin Franklin and Queen Victoria had dentures made.
