Chasing Chaim

Well, I didn't actually chase Chaim Bloom, but our paths did cross twice during the 2023 season.

In April, he was sitting in the loge seats a few rows behind me, talking with some people he knew. Then, he does the eyes-forward walk-fast move and gets back to the safety of his suite.

I saw Chaim again in July, on the night he traded Kiké Hernandez to the Dodgers. He sat in with Tom Caron and Jim Rice, and again does the eyes-forward walk-fast deal (Three young, loud guys were watching Chaim's hit on NESN, and going back and forth on all the tough, direct questions they would hit him with when he exited the TV studio. When Chaim came out, these guys clammed up and never said a word).

I believe Chaim Bloom was in a no-win situation, driven by an increasingly absentee owner who was trying to run the Red Sox on the cheap. I'm sure he'll land on his feet and thrive in his next role.
