Elgato Maker Town Hall - September 2024

In today’s Maker Town Hall, Taylor, the Director of Ecosystem at Elgato, welcomed makers to an exciting session focused on improving the maker experience and shared Elgato’s vision for the future of Stream Deck. Key highlights include:

Vision for Stream Deck:
Taylor introduced Stream Deck as the third essential input device alongside the mouse and keyboard. Elgato’s aim is to make Stream Deck accessible across various workflows, from hardware to mobile apps, expanding its integration into more products and environments.

SDK and Marketplace Updates:
Richard Herman, the technical lead, showcased updates to the Stream Deck SDK, including the official launch of version 1 and new features like Node.js support, JSON schemas, and Maker CLI. This simplifies the development process for makers, allowing them to build plugins, profiles, and assets with less complexity. Richard also introduced Stream Deck’s UI library, DRM protection, and enhanced submission processes via the Maker Console.

OBS Deep Link Plugin:
Jared Rowe, the Product Innovation Manager, revealed the OBS Deep Link Plugin, officially welcoming OBS into the Elgato ecosystem. This integration allows creators to effortlessly install pre-configured scene collections, counters, supers, and replays in OBS, streamlining their setup.

Maker Console:
Caleb presented the new Maker Console, a streamlined platform for makers to submit and manage their products on the Elgato Marketplace. The console simplifies the product submission process, enabling makers to manage their listings, update products, and onboard with Stripe for selling on the Marketplace.

Future Outlook:
Elgato is committed to continuously refining tools for makers, enhancing the development process, and expanding the Stream Deck ecosystem to meet the growing needs of streamers, creators, and makers alike.
