Football embraces politics as players plead for peace

There were emotional scenes before the start of the Everton v Manchester City match as two Ukrainian players hugged in the middle of the pitch.

City's Oleksandr Zinchenko and Everton's Vitaliy Mykolenko embraced as players and fans donned Ukrainian flags in a show of unity with the players.

There were appeals for peace at football clubs up and down the country as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine.
