'Occupations' can be simple tasks like bathing or dressing, or more complex activities like being a student, driving a car, or cooking a meal.

At Sunnybrook, occupational therapists work with patients in acute care, specialized rehab programs, and long-term care.

"The moment a person can't do the activities that are meaningful to them is the moment when their injury or illness becomes very real," second-year student Stacey Melo says. "Occupational Therapists enable people to return to those meaningful activities through rehabilitation and compensatory strategies."
