Mind-blowing theories WITH PROOF:
Jimmy was NOT phone booth baby. Phonebooth baby was conceived New Years 1979 (source: the 1979 hanging from the ceiling in the bar). The phonebooth baby was given up for adoption. Lyrics confirm there was also a daughter. This daughter was phone booth baby. Jimmy was born in 1982, 3 years later, so Jimmy couldn't be phone booth baby (source: CD book says born 1982). Also note that Gloria dies when Jimmy is 1 (source: CD book says her death year is 1983).

Gloria's dad died when she was 2 (source: CD book & the tombstone in Donna). Donna was raised by her mother who probably became an alcoholic as a single mother. This would explain why Gloria tried to escape to the city and hated the name, Donna. DONNA was the leader of the landslide, hence "Donna" being track/part 1 and not happening in chronological order where Life in the City would have been #1.

Why the dad and Cleopatra sitting on the phone line? NO ONE has solved this until now:
Sitting on the phone means not answering calls. The phone can be ringing and they're just sitting there. Cleopatra became queen when her father died. She inherited everything. "I miss my dad, Cleopatra sitting on the phone". Gloria's dad died and her mom would have nothing to do with her. "your mother never was one (a mother)". Donna was evil. She started all of this. Here's a hint at that: at the end of Donna, baby Gloria is crying. We're led to believe it's a happy family building a home but it's not. Baby Gloria crying is foreshadowing. She hates the name Donna because of obvious reasons. She hates the name Junior, but why? She died when Jimmy was 1 so she had no way of knowing him. That's the part I don't get unless it was foreshadowing that there would be one good person who could break the cycle then nope, he keeps it going.

Gloria and her husband have to go back to the sticks because her mother is dying (source: a note on the dresser in the city). Life in the city is about going back to the depressing lives they have there and is all about going back to their roots so they can be happy again, only when they do she's haunted by memory of her mother Donna that she hates (the very reason she left for the city, to begin with), and she realizes she won't be happy anywhere and the alcoholism takes hold.

Jimmy's dad (who we were led to believe was NOT his father) does NOT die in the accident. He raises Jimmy. Here's how we can deduce this: Jimmy's father was a good man who stood faithfully by his wife's side through all the darkness - to a fault because he neglected baby Jimmy in the process. Gloria died when Jimmy was 1 (remember Jimmy was born 1982 and she died a year later. Gloria's husband clearly stepped up to fatherhood and raised Jimmy to be a good man who then was a good husband and father until his wife left him and Junior (when junior was a baby) abandoning him and his son JUST AS his own mother abandoned him and his father. Jimmy was a good guy who fell on hard times in desperation, the same kind of the way we see a good kid (Junior) rob a bank in desperation to try to cover his father's gambling debts. Why do we know it was a bank? The overwhelming volume of cash AND the fact that cops came full force. If a bad guy gets robbed of his bad guy money, he's not calling the police. Also, going back to Jimmy, if his dad died in that crash, both parents are dead while he's still a baby. He becomes an orphan. But we see Jimmy inherits the house, the piano, much of the same furnishings, all items that would belong sold off had his dad died.

Jimmy kills himself in the truck. Junior leaves the gun behind. "I'll be your friend in the daylight again" is an allusion to "see you on the other side". The entire lyrics of this song are about fighting it so long and the bliss that will come in the daylight of it being over. In his situation, the only way out of that is suicide. Here's the proof why this is true: the CD book gives his death year as 2019.
