OpenWRT - 802.11s Mesh WiFi Network

In this video, we are going to setup an 802.11s Mesh WiFi network with OpenWRT using Luci. 802.11s is an open-source standard for connecting devices wirelessly, it is working on Layer 2 of the OSI model. All the nodes in the Mesh network can see each other as if they are all connected to the switch.
**Please enable 802.11r Fast Transition during the AP setup**
OpenWRT handles this very well with wpad-mesh-opensslWe will create a Mesh connection between the Habanero DVK and the D-Link DIR-842, and configure Wireless Access Point (WiFi) so that devices connected to the AP can roaming when moving from one place to another.
If you don't need to connect the 2 routers wirelessly, you can check out the 802.11r Fast Roaming, where we connect these routers with an ethernet cable.
With OpenWRT installed, we can setup a Mesh network using devices from different vendors, for example: Mikrotik, D-Link, TP-Link, 8devices, etc. as long as the WLAN hardware supports Mesh.
