I found the line splitting AI coding

Two phone calls this week.

The first was a guy running a commercial refurbishment business. He'd built an entire contractor management app in a week using Claude Code. Login, contractor onboarding, jobs, bidding, document uploads, messaging, everything. He's not a developer. When I asked him what database his app was running on, he didn't know. He had to log into Vercel to check.

That's vibe coding.

The second was a dentist in Surrey who's quietly built a complete operating system for dental practices with one developer. CRM, finance dashboard, learning management system. They wrote the documentation first, then fed it into Claude Code. Eight to ten weeks later, working prototype. He's planning to launch it as a SaaS to other dental practices.

Both said they were AI coding. They're completely different things.

I run a 20-person dev team at We UC. We're transitioning the team to be a professional AI coding house, with detailed product requirements documents, technical architect specifications, and an "anti-ambiguity agent" idea I'm about to test next. We're not at the dark factory yet. We're on the journey.

The line between vibe coding and professional AI coding is invisible to most people right now. The businesses that learn to see it will ship better software, with fewer breaches, that doesn't rot under its own weight.
