The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are expected to receive seven years of updates, which includes OS, security, and feature drop updates.

This is a significant increase from the current policy, which provides three years of OS updates and five years of security updates.

The new update policy would surpass those of Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus.

Google’s ability to provide these extended updates is likely due to its production of its own SoCs (System on a Chip), in collaboration with Samsung’s Exynos division.

Google’s Tensor G3 chip will feature the Titan M2 security chip.
