Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway | Dholera Smart City Update | Dholera SIR

In a significant post-lockdown move, the Gujarat Government has initiated development work of the decade old Ahmedabad-Dholera four lane expressway project work order of Rs 3,500 crore for the stretch of road connecting Ahmedabad to Dholera Special Investment Region (Dholera SIR) has been decided and work is expected to begin shortly. In addition, the state government has also approved work orders for 700MW solar power generation within the Dholera SIR. Combined, the power generation and expressway projects are worth Rs 8,500 crore and are likely to kick off after the monsoon. The 110km four lane expressway project is rxpected to be completed between 18 and 24 months.

Dholera SIR Smart City
Dholera is a town in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat, India. Dholera is an ancient port-city in Gulf of Khambhat, 30 km from Dhandhuka city of Ahmedabad district.
Dholera smart city would be built as a world-class city, with a six lane (12 lane bothways) expressway running between the city from the state's largest city and capital Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar respectively, to the container port. It would be the world's largest urban development project worth $12 billion.
