On October 9, a dog owner in Italy was met with a surprise when one of their puppies came out green while the rest were born with white fur like their mother. The little pup was named Pistachio after his rare coloring.

The phenomenon is thought to be caused by a pigment in the womb called biliverdin, which is responsible for the green color in bruises.
