Welcome To #MikvahMonday #37

This weeks Community : Hamburg, Germany

Hamburg was renowned as an Ir V’Eim B’Yisroel for several hundred years prior to the devastation wrought by the Haskalah movement, and shortly thereafter, the Nazis ym”sh.

As a thriving Jewish center pulsing with Yiddishkeit it was home to prominent Torah scholars such as Reb Yonasan Eibeshitz zt”l, Reb Yaakov Emden zt”l, and numerous awe-inspiring Torah giants who illuminated the world with their incredible insight and teachings.

The beauty, the legacy, and the essence of Jewish Hamburg was reduced to ashes along with the rest of Germany, but Klal Yisrael lives on and Hamburg is now home to several thousand Yidden who are slowly becoming reacquainted with their heritage, thanks to the efforts of Rabbi Shlomo Bistritzky @rabbinershlomobistritzky5676 of @chabadlubawitschhamburg5449 and assistance of Mikvah Tahara.

There are currently a handful of locals using the mikvah, however, it is also widely used by Shochtim and Mashgichim of the Eida Hachareidis, who often come for weeks at a time to work at factories and plants nearby.
