Tenacious Faith : Sermon Notes
Pastor Marco Garcia

Tenacious: holding fast, characterized by keeping a firm hold, persistent.
Matthew 15:21-28 (NLT) 21 Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Gentile woman who lived there came to him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! For my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely.” 23 But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away. “Tell her to go away,” they said. “She is bothering us with all her begging.” 24 Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of Israel.” 25 But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!” 26 Jesus responded, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.” 28 “Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.

WHAT DO THOSE WITH TENACIOUS FAITH DO?
#1 - DARE TO ASK!

Matthew 15:21 (NLT) 21 Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Gentile woman who lived there came to him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! For my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely.

Note: Maybe you have gone to everyone else and tried everything but Jesus to make you whole, set you free, give you peace, or turn your impossible situation around.
A. SHE ASKED WITH PASSION.
Pleaded: (kraugazō) cried out loud, to shout, to make humble petition, to ask.
Torment: (dai-mon-id-zo-mai) to be under the power of a demon, to be tormented and afflicted by a demon causing great mental and bodily suffering.
B. JESUS INVITES US TO ASK FOR ANYTHING IN HIS NAME AND HE PROMISES TO DO IT.
John 14:13-14 (NLT) 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

Question: Have you decided what you want? We need to take the limits off and start dreaming again!
Note: Jesus can not grant a prayer that was never made. If we don’t ask, we don’t get. Let’s not be like the crowd that let this great opportunity pass them by. They became spectators, criticizers but not participators.
C. PRAYER IS AS SIMPLE AS ASKING FOR HELP!
Mercy: (el-e-e-o) to help one who is afflicted , have compassion towards an offender.
#2 - DON’T GET OFFENDED OUT OF THEIR MIRACLE.

Fact: We can not be full of offense and be full of Faith at the same time. Either we are going to end up with a testimony of what Christ has done or a story of how we were offended. One gives Jesus the Glory and the other gives Satan the glory.
Matthew 15:23-24 (NLT) But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away. “Tell her to go away,” they said. “She is bothering us with all her begging.” 24 Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of Israel.”

Note: So many people have lost focus about the real battle they are in. They are fighting people instead of fighting the devil.
A. OFFENSES WILL COME BUT WE DON'T NEED TO LET THEM CONQUER US.
Luke 17:1 (HCSB) He said to His disciples, “Offenses will certainly come, but woe to the one they come through!

B. FOUR OPPORTUNITIES TO BE OFFENDED.
1) No one responded or they did not respond in a timely manner
2) Rejection
3) Favoritism
4) Insult
3) ARE PERSISTENT!
Matthew 15:25 (NLT) But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!” 26 Jesus responded, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.” 28 “Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.

Healed: (I-aom-ai) to cure, to make whole, to free from sins, to save.

A. IF WE KEEP ON ASKING WE WILL RECEIVE.
Matthew 7:7 (NLT) “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

B. JESUS TAUGHT US THAT WE SHOULD ALWAYS PRAY AND NEVER GIVE UP.
Luke 18:1 (NLT) One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

C. MOST IMPORTANT THING WE PRAY FOR IS THE FREE GIFT OF SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE.
Romans 10:13 (AMP) For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord [in prayer] will be saved.

Saved: (sozo) to deliver from The eternal judgement on sin. To save a suffering one from disease, to heal, to restore, to rescue from danger, destruction and the devil. To make whole.
