The White Death — The True Story of Simo Häyhä

In the winter of 1939, on the Kollaa front in eastern Finland, the Red Army sent counter-sniper teams, artillery batteries, and entire infantry platoons to kill one man. They could not find him. He lay in snow trenches at minus forty degrees, using iron sights because a telescopic scope would glint in the light. In one hundred days he killed over five hundred Soviet soldiers. They called him the White Death. His name was Simo Häyhä. He was a farmer from a village no one had heard of. This is his story.

True stories of the men and women whose courage History almost forgot.
