GEAR USED: Starlo fished with two of his favourite medium baitcaster outfits. One consisted of a Shimano SLX XT 150XG baitcaster reel spooled with 20 pound Kairiki braid on a Shimano TCurve Premium 681 rod. The other is a Shimano Curado 200 spooled with 30 pound PowerPro braid on a Shimano Zodias 160MH-2 rod. He ran Ocea FC fluorocarbon leaders from 25 to 40 pound breaking strain.

It's worth noting that in NSW it is illegal to actively and deliberately target trout cod. Those hooked incidentally while targeting other species (as we were) must be promptly returned to the water.
