India intensifies crackdown on terrorism with 6 terrorists neutralized in 48 hours

And two days after Indian forces gunned down three terrorists affiliated to Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba in Shopian in India’s Jammu and Kashmir, a similar operation was launched by joint forces in Tral. In a statement, the Indian Army said a joint operation with J&K Police and CRPF was launched in Nader region of Tral over intelligence input on presence of terrorists. The statement further said on being challenged, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce gunfight ensued. The firefight had resulted in neutralizing of three hardcore terrorists, till the last reports came in. This the second such operation in a span of 48 hours, and comes in the aftermath of India’s Operation Sindoor against terror outfits based in Pakistan-controlled regions. The army said the terrorists eliminated in Wednesday’s operation were affiliated to LeT and its proxy in the region TRF, actively involved in recent terror activities. While military operation continues in Jammu and Kashmir, India has begun approaching partners at the United Nations Security Council, for sanctioning TRF. According to sources, India is actively engaging with the United Nations to address terrorism, particularly in the context of the Pahalgam terror attack. On Wednesday, an Indian technical team also held meeting with t he Monitoring Team of the 1267 Sanctions Committee and other partner countries in New York. India has said it will pursue the sanctioning of TRF as terrorist entity.
