Title: Comparative study of each Indian state

Today we are going to talk about Indian states including its 29 states and 7 Union Territories and going to find which is the best among them to live in. We are going to evaluate all states in terms of their GDP, Unemployment, HDI, Sex ratio etc with all their latest data available in public domain and will try to find the top 3 states in their respective domains.

Let’s talk about GDP first, more precisely the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in the Financial year of 2017-18: Maharashtra stands at number 1 with a whopping 27.96 lakh crore ($430 B) Rupees GSDP which is equivalent to Iran’s total GDP. Tamil Nadu is at number 2 having GDP of 17.89 lakh crore ($268 B) Rupees which is equivalent to Finland’s GDP. Karnataka comes at number 3 with 12.69 lakh crore US$ 196.88 billion) Rupees equivalent to that of Iraq.

But talking about only GSDP will not do justice to the people residing in other parts of the country because the bigger the state is, bigger would be it’s population, which obviously contributes to a big GSDP, so it will make more sense if we take GDP per capita which means GDP share per person on an average.
So as per GDP per capita, Goa stands at no 1 with ₹375,554 (US$5,200) equivalent to Bulgaria’s Purchasing power parity (PPP). PPP means in a particular region how much purchase can be made by that population. Delhi comes at 2nd with ₹329,093 (US$4,600) equivalent to Belarus PPP. But it is upto you viewers that whether you want to consider Delhi as a state or as a city because Delhi is not a full state. Sikkim stands at no 3 with ₹297,765 (US$4,100) equivalent to Chinese PPP.

Now comes at GDP growth rate of states, as per study done by CRISIL in January 2019, Bihar registered the highest growth rate of 11.3% in India. Andhra Pradesh comes at no 2 with 11.2%
Gujarat secured 3rd rank with 11.1% GDP growth rate

Talking about unemployment rate in January 2019 as per % term means how much % of working age population in a state is unemployed. Karnataka has the lowest unemployment rate in India at 1.5%
Puducherry comes at no 2 as a Union Territory with 1.7% but as a state Meghalaya and Tamil Nadu are at no 2 with both having a rate of 2.5% . Telangana has a 2.7% unemployment rate
Whereas Jammu and Kashmiri have the highest with 21%

Coming to Human Development Index (HDI) which considers life expectancy rate, knowledge of the overall population, Educational Qualification, mortality rate, ease of living etc
Kerala achieved no 1 spot In India with a score of 0.784 which equivalent to Albania as a country
Chandigarh comes at no 2 with 0.774 equivalent to Mexico, Goa is at no 3 with a score of 0.764 which resembles Bosnia’s HDI. Bihar scored the lowest with 0.566 in India which matches the same of Pakistan.

Let’s talk about sex ratio, sex ratio means the ratio of males per 1000 females in the population of the society. As per 2011 census data, Here again Kerala achieved the highest spot with 1084 females to that of 1000 males 2nd position have taken by 2 states Union territory Puducherry with 1037 and as a state Tami Nadu with 996 females. Andhra Pradesh comes at no 3 with 993

The worst is Haryana where the sex ratio is 879 means there are 879 females to that of 1000 males
but in recent times this has improved a bit.

Coming to the electrification rate means how many houses in a particular state got electricity till now. By the data of saubhagya.gov.in as of 25th February 2019 every state have achieved 100% electrification rate in every household except Rajasthan and Chattisgarh with a remaining of 0.06% and 0.35% electrification respectively. The target date of 100% household electrification is 31st March, 2019

Talking about poverty rate means how much % of people of that state live under Below poverty line (BPL). Goa has the least poverty rate with 5.09% people under BPL category. No 2 Kerala with only 7.05 %, Himachal Pradesh comes at no 3 with 8.05% whereas Chhattisgarh has the highest poverty of 39.33%.
Coming to another important aspect of environmental protection and exploitation, India ranks at 177 out of 180 countries in Environmental performance Index report released by World Economic Forum at Davos in 2018. We have ranked the top 2 states who takes good care of its environment with least exploitation comparing to any other states. Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram where 90% of its total land mass.
