I’m in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here to meet and get to know the man behind the House of Playing Cards. Alex Pandrea is not only the mastermind behind the NOC brand of playing cards but he has a well earned reputation as a master at sleight of hand, but he’s also a quintessential entrepreneur. He is truly in a constant state of hustle. I managed to get him to sit still for a few minutes to talk to us about a few topics of interest, one of which is the release of the Fort NOC deck, which I’ll be reviewing for you. This episode marks the first in a new series, where we chat with some notable creators, producers and card manipulators. Alright, enough introduction, let’s take a look at the Fort NOC deck.

The Fort NOC deck was released on November 18th of 2019 via Pandrea’s website HouseOfPlayingCards.com. The limited edition deck featured a unique pricing structure we’ll get into in more detail on later. The deck comes packaged in a highly reflective gold foil tuck case. One the front the words Fort NOC and the number 999.9 are blind embossed. The number is a reference to the purity value that is almost always emblazoned onto Gold that has been smelted into bars. At the very bottom of the front of the tuck case, in smaller embossed type, it reads Limited Edition Playing Cards. The rest of the box, save for some miniscule ad copy on the bottom, is devoid of any other markings. And all in all it does a pretty good job of mimicking a real gold bar.
