‘Always follow the money’: Hamas struggles to ‘continue fighting’ as funding weakens
Trump’s former deputy national security adviser KT McFarland discusses US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and how Hamas will likely run out of funding.
“Think of (Hamas’) alternatives, who’s paid for Hamas? Where’s the money coming from to pay for Hamas for the last 20 or 30 years?” Ms McFarland told Sky News Australia.
“It has come from Iran, and Iran is broke, bankrupt, destitute; their oil prices are low; sanctions are being enforced.
“The other place the money has come from is a lot of the Gulf Arab countries, they’re not doing that anymore … always follow the money, if Hamas doesn’t have any money to go forward, it’s very unlikely they can continue to fight.”
