10x NBA champion 🏆 Sam Jones

Hall of Fame Professional Basketball Player. For twelve seasons (1957 to 1969), he played as a shooting guard, small forward and point guard in the National Basketball Association with the Boston Celtics. During the course of his career, Jones was a key contributor to ten NBA Titles with the Celtics dynasty teams of the 1950s and 1960s, and was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. He made his initial impact on the basketball court during his years at Laurinburg Technical Institute in North Carolina, and went on to play collegiately at North Carolina Central University. Initially selected by the Minneapolis Lakers during the 8th round of the 1956 NBA Draft, Jones served a stint with the United States military prior to being signed by the Celtics as the number 8 overall pick during the 1957 NBA Draft. In 871 career regular season games, he compiled 15,411 points and 2,209 assists. He achieved all-star status five times, and his uniform number 24 was retired by the Celtics. In 1984, he was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. After retiring as a player, he coached on the collegiate level and served as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Jazz during the 1974-1975 season.
