DIRECTOR STATEMENT
Creating intimacy through magical realism is a challenge. It was an ever bigger challenge to get audiences to sympathize with a scarecrow who can't speak. But Patches journey is a universal one, albeit a bit more whimsical. We set out to produce a short about perseverance driven by the need for acceptance, hoping it resonated with all ages. This was my last USC produced short film and I couldn't be prouder of the result. I was fortunate to work with an immensely talented crew, made up of my classmates and friends. Making this movie never felt like a chore, even with all the challenges we faced.
