Is Mexico like the Philippines or the other way around? Filipinos arrived in Mexico during the Spanish colonial period. Filipinos and Mexicans sailed to and from Mexico and the Philippines as part of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade. Their descendants are found in communities particularly in the state of Guerrero, and Colima. Juan Nepomuceno Machado a merchant from the Philippines settled the coast of Sinaloa in 1829. Juan Nepomuceno Machado is considered to be the father of the Mexican community of Mazatlán. (Source: en.wikipedia.org).
