Josef Suk - Towards a New Life, Op. 35c (1931)

Josef Suk (4 January 1874 – 29 May 1935) was a Czech composer and violinist. He studied under Antonín Dvořák, whose daughter he married.

Suk created the first version in 1919 in a war-related competition under the pseudonym Josef Emanuel Skrýšovská. This was withdrawn by the composer.

The final version (Op.35c) was first performed in concert Czech Philharmonic, December 3, 1931 and "won a silver medal in the artistic competition at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles".
