How To Triplet Strum On Ukulele

Triplet strums can add a whole new dimension to your rhythm playing. In this lesson I go through my method to get to grips with triplet strumming and show you a couple of tips that really helped me get them down.

There are a few varying ways to play triplets but my personal favourite is…

• Strum down with your index finger
• Strum down with your thumb
• Up strum with your index finger

One of the key tricks is to make sure you keep your thumb above the strings after your first down strum with your finger. This will leave you well placed to be able to get that second strum complete without too much fuss.

I'd also recommend taking it super slow. I know it won't be much fun to listen to yourself playing at such a slow pace but what it will do is speed up your progress.
