What I Learned From SUGAR HILL in this review is that it's a Shakespearean tragedy that examins the dilemma of the black man in America. Check It Out, Shakespearean tragedies all have a tragic hero, a dichotomy of morals (good vs evil), a tragic loss or waste, a foul revenge and Hamartia (the hero's tragic flaw). But how does Sugar Hill explore the dilemma of the black man in America ?

This movie stars Wesley Snipes as Romello Skuggs, Michael Wright is his older brother and thanks to their father Clarence Williams III as A.R. Skuggs their family has been perverted by heroin. A true Hood classic from its richness and themes. This film is second in the thre part Harlem saga of Barry Michael Cooper, which includes NEW JACK CITY, SUGAR HILL and ABOVE THE RIM.
What's it about: How the sins of the Father are inherited by the sons. Father of Romello & Raynathan A.R. Skuggs in pursuits of happiness introduces his family to heroin here in this movie we witness what transpired.
This movie also has Theresa Randall who is the love interest of Romello. Abe Vigoda shows up as the stereotypical mob boss.
Overall a solid Hood classic! Check It Out!
