Thousands gather outside Kabul airport to flee Afghanistan

In Kabul thousands of people have gathered outside the international airport for a third day in a desperate attempt to flee Afghanistan.

Afghans hoping to escape must walk through ranks of Taliban fighters, as the British military tries to move thousands of people out of Afghanistan in just days.

The Taliban are a continuingly menacing presence as they control the crowds of people trying to reach the British position, at times firing into the air.

The soldiers call out for interpreters as different nationalities arrive, and their paperwork is then checked.

People are directed to the entry gate to be processed inside, but without the proper paperwork they are turned away and sent back to live under the Taliban.
