Thinking about stock returns in terms of how much yield the business could return investors is a powerful concept that has led me to completely avoid long-term bond holdings and to focus on long-term stock holdings instead. This typically results in a higher quality and less risky stock portfolio because there is no 'bond buffer', but it should probably only be attempted by investors with the right experience, psychology, and also those with adequate emergency cash.
