The Sons of the Pioneers - Too Old to Cut the Mustard

Recorded for the "Lucky U" Ranch radio show during the early 1950's. This song was written by Bill Carlisle and was a fairly popular novelty number that was covered by quite a few big artists like Rosemary Clooney and Ernest Tubb. Shug Fisher sings lead on this excellent track. Shug Fisher might sound familiar to Tom and Jerry fans, as he played Jerry's Uncle Pecos in the classic episode "Pecos Pest". Lloyd Perryman, Karl Farr, Hugh Farr, Tommy Doss, and Ken Curtis (who played Festus on Gunsmoke) is backing him up. Frank Messina is the accordion player. Karl Farr sounds to be playing a mandolin.
The Sons of the Pioneers were originally on Rex Allen's radio show, until they took over to start The "Lucky U" Ranch radio program which was nationally broadcast by ABC every weekday.
