Health Apps - helpful or harmful?
There are now tens of thousands of smartphone apps claiming to improve your health, everything from mindfulness and meditation apps to those which monitor conditions like heart disease or diabetes.
But Liz Ashall-Payne says only 20% of the apps we download are of a high quality. She runs ORCHA, the organisation for the review of care and health apps, and tells Rory Cellan-Jones her mission is to encourage the use of health tech by showing people what is helpful and what can be harmful. Among ORCHA's recent studies was a survey of 25 period tracking apps which found that only one did not share data with third parties.
