Agency in Architecture
https://www.arch.columbia.edu/events/2255-agency-in-architecture
Agency in Architecture explored political agencies and authorship in architecture and its spatial implications. The conversation intended to reject the singular narrative of the architect-subservient-to-capital in favor of a more nuanced portrait. The discussion explored the expanding agency of the architect, from the interface between architecture and other fields, such as political science, sociology, and environmental science, to the relationship between practice and pedagogy through policies.
The event is a cross-school collaboration between LatinGSAPP and Yale School of Architecture’s NOMAS, part of YaleNOMAS’ Latinx Features: Spring ’21 Roundtable Series.
Enrique Walker, Architect & Lecturer in Architecture at Columbia GSAPP
Adriana Chávez, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP & Co-founder of ORU - Office for Urban Resilience
Elisa Iturbe, Critic at the Yale School of Architecture & Co-founder of Outside Development
Moderated by Alice Fang (LatinGSAPP, ‘21 M.ARCH), Guillermo Acosta Navarrete (YaleNOMAS) and Gabriel Gutierrez Huerta (YaleNOMAS)
