Dune Series PHD Episode 10 The Evolution of Ixian Technology in Frank Herbert's Dune Series

Ix, along with Richese, is a world noted for being supreme in machine culture. In this episode we look at how the technologies of the planet Ix evolve throughout the Dune series. Perhaps the most important scientific principle in Herbert's Dune is the Holtzman effect, fundamental to shield and suspensor technology, as well as powering the massive Guild Heighliners which fold space.
The Ixian's also develop the No technology, an evolutionary machine paradigm that is created out of the need to hide from the God Emperor's all encompassing prescience. But the Ixians fail to evolve as their machines change over time.
We take a look at the evolution of Ixian technology in the Dune universe, and ultimately its consequences for those who create and use it.
