Red River Valley (American/Canadian Folk Song)

Red River Valley

From this valley they say you are going.
We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile,
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brightened our pathway a while.

So come sit by my side if you love me.
Do not hasten to bid me adieu.
Just remember the Red River Valley,
And the cowboy that has loved you so true.

I know this is a little raw but that's how I'm rolling with these recordings. This is myself harmonizing and descanting with myself.

I looked up the history of this song and Wikipedia mentions that it may have originated in Canada in the late 1800s (19th century) and there is a Red River Valley in Manitoba.

Dedicated to my Grandpa Lawrence Holbrook. He loved this song.
