Importance of Forklift Safety

A forklift is a powerful tool that allows one person to precisely lift and place large heavy load with little effort. However, there is a great risk of injury or death when;
✅ Operator has not been trained properly
✅ Is not familiar with how a forklift operates
✅ Operates the forklift carelessly
✅ Use a forklift that is not safe and not properly maintained

Under OSHA Act 1994 (Part IV Section 15,16,17 & 18)
Employer responsibility:
✅ Forklift must maintained properly
✅ Forklift operator must trained & understand all the safety aspects
✅ Forklift must keep in a proper serviced records

Employer who contravene with the above act, shall be quilty of an offence, and shall on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or 2 years imprisonment or both.

Employee responsibility:
✅ Forklift operator must wear safety belt and all others Personal Protection Equipment provided
✅ Forklift operator must be trained & understand all the safety aspects
✅ Forklift operator must go through basic inspection & checklist before start driving

Employee who contravene with the above act, shall be quilty of an offence, and shall on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding RM20,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or both.
